Forthcoming on Wuthering Expectations

I'm still too groggy to write anything coherent, but I'm back from vacation. Next week, you can expect posts on Munich museums, Vienna operas, and some possibly misguided thoughts on the youth and age of cities. And soon, something on Alexis de Tocqueville, and Lermontov's A Hero of Our Time. I can't speak for you, but I can hardly wait.

  1. Welcome back! So happy you're back, and safe. We stopped briefly in your town, but could not find the Eat-Rite -- we settled for a very odd locally-owned pancake house near the airport. Thx for the Brueghel picture. Hollaback when you can. I am re-reading Bleak House and all these characters are giving me a headache. I think those guys who write The Wire need to take the pledge on Dickens, Tolstoy and Hugo. Seriously. I don't remember this book requiring so much work to get through. I think I might make a chart.

  2. Welcome back, looking forward to your thoughts on those misguided youth as well as de Tocqueville and Lermontov.

  3. Ha! Excellent jab at my clumsy writing. The youth of the cities, not the youth in the cities. The kids are all right.

Sounds like someone could use a book that catalogues all of the characters in 18th and 19th century British novels.
